St Matthew’s Church


Sunday, 28th November  Join us at Donnington & Muxton Parish Council Christmas

1.00 p.m. – 6.00 p.m.    Festival on The Parade.  Christingle packs in support of the Children’s Society, candles, crackers and hearts to decorate.

Wednesday, 1st December The installation and illumination of the Nativity Stable.

6.30 p.m. - 7.15 p.m.      Come and enjoy favourite carols, mulled wine, hot chocolate and mince pies.

Wednesday, 8th December Advent Eucharist in Church.

11.00 a.m.    


Thursday, 16th December   Carols and readings around the Stable with children from 1.00 p.m. St Matthew’s C.E.Primary School.


Wednesday, 22nd December Carols, readings and mince pies in Church. 11.00 a.m.         


Christmas Eve   Nativity for all ages in the Churchyard.

3.30 p.m. – 4.30 p.m.  Dress for the weather and the season (Christmas hats & jumpers ), bring a warm drink and a garden chair if you wish.   


Christmas Day   All-age Eucharist in Church. 10.00 a.m.   




Not a phrase you associate with Church services is it? But this year we are all doing things a little differently and at St Matthew's we want to ensure our Christmas celebrations are as enjoyable and safe as possible. 


Because of the current climate there are limited spaces available and you will need to book in advance. To help us plan, please book your place by Friday, 17th December.

Here’s what is happening;

Christmas Eve 3.30pm – Nativity for all ages in the Churchyard – the service will last 45 mins – 1 hour. Dress for the weather and the season (Christmas hats & jumpers )  bring a warm drink if you wish and a garden chair if you need to sit down .

Christmas Day 10.00am – All -age Christmas Communion in Church

Here’s what you need to know to book your place;

  • Text 07519171685 by Friday 17th December to book in
  • Tell us which event you are booking.
  • Tell us your name, how many places you are booking and the names of everyone in your party.

We will contact you by Monday, 20th December to confirm your booking, or to offer an alternative if services are oversubscribed. Please be aware that we may not be able to seat all of your party together as we continue to maintain social distancing. Your contact details will be kept for track and trace purposes and deleted from our records after 21 days.

Please remember;

  • Wear a mask when entering, leaving or moving within the Church building.
  • Use the hand sanitizer provided.
  • Follow Covid 19 guidance on display both inside and outside Church.
